Scale and Power

Mingus is a large three-way loudspeaker inspired by classic cinema systems, studio monitors and legendary horn designs from the golden age of professional audio. It was created to reproduce the scale, physical presence and unrestricted dynamics of live music. Mingus sounds powerful and expansive, but its strength is not based on loudness alone. Its real quality lies in the ease with which it presents large musical structures, sudden dynamic contrasts and the weight of real instruments.

The large sealed bass section delivers impact, depth and control without excessive overhang. Horn-loaded midrange and high-frequency sections reproduce voices, brass, percussion and strings with immediacy, freedom and exceptional dynamic expression.

Despite its size and power, Mingus remains musical and coherent. It is designed to preserve natural tone, rhythm and emotional connection rather than create an aggressive or overly spectacular presentation.

Energy of Live Music

he horns also help control how acoustic energy is distributed through the room, improving clarity and image stability while maintaining the broad scale expected from a large system. Directivity is treated as a supporting element of the design, serving musical realism rather than becoming an end in itself.

Years of practical experience with high-efficiency drivers, horn systems, sealed enclosures and crossover design shaped every aspect of Mingus. The drivers, horns, cabinet and crossover were developed as one complete system.

Its custom three-way series crossover is refined through measurement and extensive listening. High-quality components are selected for low losses, long-term stability and their ability to preserve dynamics and tonal integrity. With approximately 92 dB sensitivity, Mingus works beautifully with tube amplifiers and other low- to medium-powered designs. It retains scale, contrast and presence even at moderate listening levels.
